2008-08-16 - Best of all the "self-help" books on my shelf
Combine profound wisdom with laugh-out-loud humor and you have one of the best "self-help" book I've yet come across. I found particularly insightful the exercise on listing the things I love, then tracing back the events that led to how these things came into my life until I reached the "bad luck" that started the chain of events. Wow! That put the "bad luck" I've had in life into a whole new light and made me look forward to even more. Any book that can do that is well worth the price and the time and energy to read.
2008-08-15 - You can achieve!
I am excited to read this book. I hope to obtain at least one tip that I can put into practice on the road to health and happiness.
2008-08-15 - Don't expect it to change your life
I bought this after seeing a review on a meditation site.
Didn't research enough. Very shallow and written for those who might want to quick fix their lives with a check list.
Also sent one to a friend going through a mid life crisis - Wrong thing to do without reading it myself. We both agree it isn't worth the read.
2008-08-12 - The Best Ever!
I've read practically all of Martha Beck's books and this is one was amazing. I managed to read it in a couple of days with a very busy schedule. This book's exercises were simple to do but were very powerful. You'll know what I mean if you actually do them instead of just reading them. I wish I could give this book to everyone I know, well maybe to the people I know that like books like this! Maybe it is you!
2008-08-12 - Could not connect with this book
I read a lot of books on self help and creating awareness but I could not connect with this book at all. I tried the exercises Martha gives but many of them did not resonate with me. I guess I'm further in my spiritual development and have moved out of my self loathing or feeling angry about everything.
