2008-09-08 - Helpful Addition to Other Nutrition Books, Valuable If You Eat Out or Buy Processed Foods.
If you want to make better food choices this is a good book to look into. Especially if you eat out for the majority of your meals but haven't paid attention to fat and calories that you ingest. Warning -- You may be horrified to discover what you've been pumping into your body.
If you aren't ready to make changes avoid this book. Cheeseburgers weighing in at 1,000 calories at a pop followed by a coffee smoothie at over 500 could really rain on your parade. Want to know how much of your daily fat count/calorie count would be exhausted by half an onion blossom? If you do, it's there in full color.
Those who want to make better food choices overall might want to consider looking a deeper into nutritional choices in additional books like those covering the glycemic index, healthy fats and how to introduce more plants and get away from processed. But this is a great resource for someone who has to eat out a lot or prefers to buy prepackaged foods yet wants to make better choices. The details of choices are not complete, mostly calories and fat counts with occasional additional counts such as sodium and whether an item contains trans fat or high fructose corn syrup.
Full of eye catching photos and colors with details that break down major restaurant chains best and worst menu choices. A very helpful guide on decoding menu items at major types of restaurants is included that is worth the purchase price. Other guides give details on best and worst items at your grocery store. Some small color boxes are difficult to read because of lack of color contrast and small print.
2008-09-07 - Great Reference Book
This book is packed full of surprising information about how many calories we can consume without realizing it! It is also a good reference book to take along with you in the car - or on a trip - just so you don't get hooked into a high-calorie situation when you need a quick meal at a restaurant. I also bought "Eat This Not That FOR KIDS," which also opened my eyes about the foods I USED TO GIVE to my 3-year old daughter!
2008-09-07 - A Must Have
The book hasa lot of good information and common sense tips. We love the book so much, we bought the kids edition. Both books have become a fixture in the car.

2008-09-02 - Nice format
I really liked the format of this book. Each page is a different restaurant with full-color photographs of meals and gives several alternatives to choose from. Detailed information about why the meals were selected and nutrition info is very helpful.
